Belfast punk band The Outcasts make a welcome return to the Regional Cultural Centre (RCC) on Saturday, 19th July, following an electrifying performance during the Culture Shocks Punk Festival in 2024.

Formed in 1977, The Outcasts were part of Northern Ireland’s early punk scene, known for their energetic performances and songs like Justa Nother Teenage Rebel and Self-Conscious Over You. They were signed to Good Vibrations Records, the influential Belfast label founded by Terri Hooley, which helped bring punk music to a wider audience during a difficult time in Northern Ireland’s history.

Following a period of inactivity, The Outcasts re-emerged after the release of the 2013 film Good Vibrations, which told the story of Hooley and his record label. The film sparked renewed interest in Belfast’s punk history, leading to a revival for many of the bands associated with the scene. Since then, The Outcasts have returned to live performances, bringing their music to new and long time fans alike.

Their brilliant 2024 set at Culture Shocks showed they still have plenty of enthusiasm for performing, delivering an outstanding set of classic tracks with the same energy that first put them on the map.

“Like a drunken waltz through the ballrooms of No Romance, and if Post-Punk met Thin Lizzy and the Horslips, at a Pogues gig on acid this would be the result!” Deklan Dachau/ Paranoid Visions).
